Glimmer Gala raises $31,000 to benefit the ICSF and St. Patrick School in Lawrence
On May 1, 2009, the Inner-City Scholarship Fund Professionals' Team (PT) hosted nearly 200 guests at the
15th Annual Glimmer Gala at the Seaport Hotel and raised $31,000, a record number for the Glimmer Gala.
Corie Fogg was awarded the 2009 ICSF PT Volunteer of the Year Award.
Co-chaired by Jeannemarie Conley, Corie Fogg, and Jamie Moore, the Glimmer Gala is a premier fundraising
event for Bostonians. Through their leadership, Conley, Fogg and Moore helped raise $31,000 to benefit the
Catholic Schools Foundation's Inner-City Scholarship Fund (ICSF), which provides financial assistance to needy
students attending Catholic schools in and around Boston. A portion of the funds raised will also go to St.
Patrick School in Lawrence, enabling them to improve their classrooms and school.
Glimmer Gala guests were greeted by students from St. Patrick in Lawrence and spent the evening bidding
on a fantastic array of live and silent auction items, including golf with Troy Brown, round trip tickets on
Spirit Airlines, Tiffany's jewelry, tickets to all of the Boston's sporting events, stays in luxury homes in
Cape Cod and St. John as well as several private dinner parties. While perusing the items available for
bidding, guests were treated to a complimentary bar, sirloin carving station, hors d’ouevres and dessert
bar and danced until midnight with the entertainment of DJ Dance with Lance. One lucky guest, Michael
Condelli, came away from the evening with four dugout seat tickets to the Red Sox vs. the Baltimore Orioles
by winning the raffle drawing. Another guest, Melissa Kiley, is enjoying her "Yards of Diamonds" necklace
donated by DePrisco Jewelers. Additionally, Amy O'Sullivan was the lucky winner of Boston Red Sox tickets
hidden in the Grab Bags.
As well as a fundraiser, this annual event introduces many guests to the good work done by the Inner-City
Scholarship Fund and the volunteer opportunities provided by the Professionals' Team. This year's Volunteer
of the Year was awarded to Corie Fogg for her hard work and dedication to the mission and goals of the
Professionals' Team. The Professionals' Team strives to bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace
for students attending schools supported by the Inner-City Scholarship Fund. Professionals' Team volunteers
hold Saturday tutoring sessions, visit schools and speak to students about their professions through the
Speakers Bureau program and bring groups of students to their workplaces on Industry Tours. The members of
the Professionals' Team help students see the wealth of options available to them in their futures, and in
doing so help to Build Minds and Change Lives.
The Glimmer Gala raised record numbers in part to our generous sponsors. Thank you for your support!
