Thank you for taking a moment to learn more about the work of the Catholic Schools Foundation and
the Inner City Scholarship Fund. I’ve been involved with the Foundation since 1990, and have seen
first-hand the direct impact it can have on the lives of students. If you have already joined me in
supporting our schools, thank you for making a difference to these young people. If you are new to
our work, I hope by learning more about the progress of the Catholic Schools Foundation, you will
consider support our efforts.
Despite the challenging economy, this year we have many reasons to hope for a bright future for
more and more children. For years we saw schools close their doors and children lose the opportunity
to benefit from the positive educational experience our schools offer. Today, thanks to years of
support of so many, we are seeing a reinvigoration of these schools, which will benefit students
for years to come.
Throughout this website you will get a glimpse of the important work made possible by the dedication
of our volunteers, teachers, donors and staff - and by you. Last year, the Inner City Scholarship Fund
directly aided 5,069 students with over $6,700,000 in partial scholarship assistance. We know these
students are more likely to graduate and go on to college because of their education in our schools. Of
the students you directly helped, 52% are living at or below the poverty level, 63% are non-white and
nearly 30% are non-Catholic. Simply put, 5,069 lives were forever changed thanks to you.
Along with this remarkable fact, thanks to donors like you funding was also provided for the
Adopt-a-School program, a new playing surface in Roxbury, improved teaching materials, counseling
and technology programs, student recruiting efforts and other programs that help young people and
bolster enrollment.
Our donors allow us to reach out to the neediest among us and give them an opportunity at a
first-rate education in an environment that promotes accountability, discipline and values.
You are giving them a way to change their lives and that of their families and communities.
Please take a moment to review this website. I hope it gives you a sense of the important role
donors play in the lives of these young people. I also encourage you to visit a school to see
first-hand the difference you are making. I guarantee a visit will brighten your day.
On behalf of all the students, thank you.
Sincerely yours,
Peter S. Lynch
